Weekly Round-up (21): January 15 – 21, 2018

I’m doing weekly round-ups now, which will include any media I consumed for the past week, from Monday to Sunday. I’d be glad if you end up getting some recommendations but I’m only doing this as a form of a media journal (to make it easy to write reviews later on). And fine, an actual journal too. Here goes!

Sorry, kpop, but I’ve been waiting for years for this album so it is still the only thing I’m listening to right now since it dropped last week Friday. I am loving EVERY single track and it still does sound very BØRNS-esque and yet different from his Dopamine album. I love the lyrics and the melody and EVERYTHING. And I’m sure I’ll find more things to love the more I listen to it.

Weekly Idol: I finally watched the second part of SECHSKIES on Weekly Idol and ohmylord, it was such a blast. Seriously, I haven’t even done a proper listen to their songs but I already love them because of everything I’ve been seeing in their variety appearances. It’s such a given that I already love Jiwon, after all, the New Journey to the West cast owns my heart. But I didn’t expect to love them all! Jaejin is my next fave maybe because HE’S SO CRAZY AND 4D AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Hahaha!

After watching WIN: Who is Next?, I finally had the courage to watch WINNER’s first Weekly Idol episode, when they were still five. And I hated myself for not watching it any sooner because I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD! These boys are just so adorable and my baby Mino especially. Doni and Coni were having so much fun too. GAH I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH

Prison Playbook / Smart Prison Living / Wise Prison Life: It’s a rule in Prison Playbook that the more the episode makes you laugh, the more it will make you cry. Episode 13 was so hilarious with Je-hyeok becoming Crony’s alpha and the new dynamics but KAIST WRECKED ME. I was sobbing ugly sobs and I found it hard to breathe and my tears were blocking my eyes from watching. I love all the backstories revealed too, with Han-yang and Captain Yoo. I was saddened and maddened by Captain Yoo’s “tolerance” of Han-yang’s sexual preference (I don’t even think he’s attracted to men, he’s only attracted to Ji-won and only Ji-won) but he still saved his life and this not-bromance is so good. Then Jung-woo asking Han-yang for advice and all that. GAH WHY IS THIS DRAMA SO GOOD

Bromance: I finally started this one, which has been pushed on me by my dear friend Lyra since last year AND OMG I LIKE IT AND IT’S SO FUN TO WATCH. It is so cracktastic, I can’t even! It’s absurd and silly and predictable and formulaic but WHO CARES IT’S SO CRACKTASTIC. I saw five episodes straight in one day despite work and lab and gym and everything else. THIS SHOW HAS EATEN ME HAHAHA. I’m only on the eighth episode at the moment because I got TOO busy but I know for a fact I’m gonna watch this again as soon as I can.

I finally reviewed Be Positive and Momo Salon, two web dramas I saw last year. (I know that I’m very late in reviewing stuff.)

How about you? What are you watching or reading these days? Any recommendations for me?
