I’m doing weekly round-ups now, which will include any media I consumed for the past week, from Sunday to Saturday. I’d be glad if you end up getting some recommendations but I’m only doing this as a form of a media journal (to make it easy to write reviews later on). And fine, an actual journal too. Here goes!
If you prefer listening rather than reading, I also recorded me reading what I’ve written below. Sorry for the noise though, I forgot to turn off my fan + I’m always moving.
Hippo Campus released THREE NEW TRACKS!!! They spoil us, really.
Moreover, a ZAYN + Sia collab dropped so I NEED TO CALM DOWN
And this song is SO GOOD. I love it. I’ve been listening to it exclusively since Friday.
Weekly Idol: LIANNE, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME? I’ve seen the two episodes where Wanna One was the guest and I don’t even know these kids and now I KNOW THEIR NAMES ALL ELEVEN OF THEM?!?! I still don’t care about their music, I just want ALL THE VARIETY GIMME ALL THE VARIETY
Wizard of Nowhere: Because my crush on Uhm Ki-joon did blow out of hand, I decided to watch the first four episodes of Wizard of Nowhere, when they went to Nepal. Even though my original reason for watching the show (Jinwoo) isn’t there. AND HELLO MY CRUSH IS JUST GETTING BIGGER. I was only able to watch the first episode but I plan on continuing it as soon as possible. Last Monday, I was SO SAD because I was looking forward to the new episodes but then I learned that episodes were currently on hold due to the MBC strike in SoKor. So, no new episodes for me.
Here’s a gif of him (not a Wizard of Nowhere gif, I’m still in the process of trying to make them) JUST BECAUSE
Half Moon Friends: Since I don’t have a new Wizard of Nowhere episode to watch, I decided to dive into this variety show with WINNER in it. Just mention the word kids and I’ll watch anything. I’m only at the second episode but THIS IS TOO ADORABLE FOR WORDS
Falsify: So I watched last week’s episodes and this week’s finale episodes and it’s over. I can’t say that I’ll miss it since as I’ve discussed in previous weekly round-ups, this one didn’t reach love levels for me. I did like it though. Quite a bummer though that the only interesting character for me was the killer. The black hats in this one had more character nuance and depth and grays in them than the white hats, which were all angels. So boring. Will probably talk about this drama more in a review if I’m able to make the words flow but if not, I’ve talked about it enough in most of my weekly round-ups.
Strongest Deliveryman: MY HEART IS FULL OF HAPPINESS BECAUSE OF THIS SHOW. I’ve babbled about this one already in my checking in on post so just head over there.
Magic Cellphone: WTF DID I JUST WATCH. WTF DID I JUST ENDURE FOR MY FANDOM? Hahaha! Entertained me a bit though but not the good kind, I guess. I mean, I laughed when Jinwoo’s character died? I’m sure that’s now how it’s supposed to be. Hahaha! The things I do for WINNER. Good thing it’s just a web drama clocking in at 80 minutes only.
Love for a Thousand More: THIS? ME LIKEY. The lead in this one is another WINNER member, Kang Seungyoon. His acting is a bit green but definitely serviceable. I could say it worked because I was swooning and feeling all sorts of glee with this one. I wish it was longer! This web drama was primarily buoyed by the lead actress and the premise, wherein the girl is immortal. SO CUTE. And the theme song (I included it above, under the music section) is so great I’ve been listening to it on repeat. I’ll probably review this one along with Magic Cellphone soon.
Since I pretty much gouged on A LOT of kdramas this week, I wasn’t able to fit in any jdramas. Maybe next week! (I don’t know how to balance.)
Everybody Loves Somebody (2017): I did a little squeal when I saw that this movie was on Netflix. Karla Souza is my girlcrush and I’ve been wanting to see this film ever since I saw its trailer back then. So I immediately queued it up to watch it. And I was a bit disappointed. I was SO HYPED because it got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and that’s usually pretty unheard of in rom-coms? Anyway, even if I didn’t see that RT rating, I think I would have still been disappointed. It’s just that, rom-coms are usually made great by the chemistry of the leads and I just didn’t feel any in here. So yeah. Will talk about this more in a proper review.
Our Lovers (2016): Feeling a bit dejected after seeing Everybody Loves Somebody, Sarah recommended this one to me. It’s on Netflix too so I immediately hit play. This one I adored. The chemistry between the leads was electric. I also liked all the film theory thrown around, making the movie quite meta. I’ll squee and heap praises for this film on my proper review too so stay tuned for that.
I didn’t go to the Manila International Book Fair because I seriously don’t have money for anything other than essentials such as food. I HATE BEING UNEMPLOYED! And I hate dipping into my savings so it’s a conundrum how I’ve survived. I did go to Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian’s signing in SM Megamall though! It was so nice seeing my book blogger friends again. I MISS THEM
I originally had three drafts set to publish this week but I wasn’t able to finish all of them because I kept on watching show after show. I did end up writing about Strongest Deliveryman though so hope you can check that out!
