And you guys, I am more than honored to have my stop on the actual release date of Phoenix! Happy Phoenix Day! Phoenix releases today, June 4, so grab your copy now! For today I have a character interview with Natalie’s bestfriend, Day! I’m so stoked for this because Day’s whole name is Dayani Jefferson-Rajasingham. My name is Dianne but a lot of my friends spell it out as Dayan. Hee, makes me so giddy! Anyway, this introduction is getting too long so let’s get to that character interview and giveaway!
Title: Phoenix (Black City #2)
Author: Elizabeth Richards
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Date of Publication: June 4, 2013
Weeks after his crucifixion and rebirth as Phoenix, Ash Fisher believes his troubles are far behind him. He and Natalie are engaged and life seems good. But his happiness is short-lived when he receives a threatening visit from Purian Rose, who gives Ash an ultimatum: vote in favor of Rose’s Law permanently relegating Darklings to the wrong side of the wall or Natalie will be killed. The decision seems obvious to Ash; he must save Natalie. But when Ash learns about The Tenth, a new and deadly concentration camp where the Darklings would be sent, the choice doesn’t seem so simple. Unable to ignore his conscience, Ash votes against Rose’s Law, signing Natalie’s death warrant and putting a troubled nation back into the throes of bloody battle.
60-second Interview with Day
Today’s 60 Second Interview is with Natalie’s best friend, Dayani Jefferson-Rajasingham.
Please describe yourself in three words.
Eternal book nerd.
What’s your favorite pastime?
Reading forbidden books! The government’s banned all non-Sentry regulated books, but the legal ones are so dry and ‘on message’. Thankfully my papa managed to save a few of our books when the Sentry guard came door-to-door, demanding we hand them over to be burned.
Cats or dogs?
Dogs. After what happened to Natalie’s kitten, I can’t look at cats without crying.
What’s your favorite food?
My mama’s peach cobbler. We don’t have it very often, because peaches are expensive, so it’s a real treat when she makes it.
Tell us a secret about yourself.
I can tell you the nickname of every city in the United Sentry States.
What are you afraid of?
Losing my parents and little brother, MJ.
Who do you love the most in this world?
Beetle will kill me if I don’t say him, so Beetle. But between you and me, it’s MJ. He’s my favorite person in the whole world.
Who do you hate the most?
The Sentry government. I used to want to be an Emissary, but now I’ve seen their true colors I couldn’t think of anything worse than working for Purian Rose.
Would you rather vacation in Golden Sands or the Dominion State?
Well, right now I’m too busy fighting a war to worry about going on vacation. But when this is all over, I think I’d like to take a beach vacation as I’ve never seen the ocean. Plus, it’s a good excuse to see Beetle in his swimming trunks.
If you had one wish, what would it be?
That my brother, MJ, wasn’t in any pain.
Thank you so much for gracing my blog with your presence, Day! ❤ Check back on my blog one week from now on June 11 for my review!
